Bathtub Options
If you want to revitalize your bathroom, there are many bathtub options that can help you do this. Without replacing the entire bathtub or completely redoing your bathroom, you can feel like you’re in a new room with a few light changes. Some of these projects may be good for do-it-yourself as well. With the right products, a little creativity, and some elbow grease, you can have a good-as-new bathroom in a relatively short amount of time.
Bathtub Liners
One easy way to transform your bathroom is to use bathtub liners. Bathtub liners are designed to fit seamlessly over your tub, making it look brand new. This is an especially good option for acrylic bathtubs. Many manufacturers design liners for specific tub makes and models. So you can look up what they have in that department. Change the color of your tub and cover over all the little imperfections it has accrued over years of use in one swift maneuver. You can also have bathtub liners custom fitted and made.
Bathtub Paint
If you have a cast iron bathtub, then bathtub paint is probably a better way to update its appearance than a liner. Out of all the bathtub options, painting a bathtub is probably the most difficult. However, with a little prep work and some time, you can repaint your tub on your own. The best DIY methods involve some scrubbing/sanding of the surface, priming, and a few coats of paint. Then you wait for everything to set and you’re ready to use your tub again. Painting a tub can be a good weekend project.
Bathtub Surrounds
Rather than changing the appearance of the actual bathtub, you might consider changing (or adding) a bathtub surround. A surround is essentially a protective wall the goes from the top of your tub to the ceiling. You can change the look of your tub or use the surround to detract from the look of your bathtub. Surrounds are meant to integrate seamlessly with the tub and will when they are installed the right way. If you want a relatively quick fix that’s not a painful process, consider a bathtub surround.
Bathtub Fixtures
The many bathtub options when it comes to bathtub fixtures can really enhance the overall look of your bathtub and bathroom. This type of change doesn’t require a lot of effort, or necessarily a lot of money. The variety of fixtures available lets you switch things up from modern to Victorian. Brass, brushed nickel, and chrome are just three options for the kind of materials and looks available. Changing the shower head and faucet and then maybe altering a few other small things in the bathroom like the shower curtain, can greatly improve the look of the room.
Aside from appearance, you may also be concerned with bathtub safety. There are many bathtub options in this department as well. On top of the many accessories available such as seats and railings, there are also a variety of walk in bathtubs for extra safety and comfort. This type of major overhaul may be worth it if safety is going to be an issue long-term. So consider bathtub liners, repainting, surrounds, and fixtures as bathtub options to improve and enhance the look of your bathtub.
